ABSTRACT

The event management concept represents a big picture, or a framework, that gives answers on all important issues related to planned events, event management, event design and event operations. Since, modern cost management concepts are based on the fact that the activities are the basic elements that generate costs or consume resources, it is clear that new activities based costs management systems and project management principles can be fully applied to event management. Event management is a multidisciplinary scientific discipline, because in the creation of models, concepts and practices, it includes insights coming from other disciplines, while through the application it combines the work of different educational profiles that, in addition to a professional event manager, include psychologists, sociologists, economists, lawyers and other educational profiles of technical and natural sciences that depend on the specificity of the event and its content, time, focus, purpose, location through a clear understanding of the same as an interdisciplinary oriented science stream. The event industry, including fairs, festivals, meetings, conferences, exhibitions, religious events, sports and a number of other events, is rapidly evolving and making a significant contribution to business development, especially in the field of tourism, but also represents a platform for starting or improving business activities in other economic branches. With the increase in regulation and growth of state and corporate involvement in events, the environment for this industry and business has become much more complex. Event leaders are now required to identify and service a broad range of stakeholders, or interest groups, by balancing their requirements, needs, and goals. This paper aims to present key components of various events that could be used for the economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the use of scientific knowledge of event management as a platform for optimizing the work of government institutions, employers and educational institutions.
