Author Responsibilities
Authors guarantee that the manuscript represents their original contribution, that it has not been published previously, and that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals constitutes a breach of ethical standards. Such a manuscript will be excluded from further consideration. It should be noted that posting a preprint on appropriate platforms or in repositories is not considered prior publication. Authors are obliged to indicate at the time of submission whether the manuscript has previously been published as a preprint and to specify where it was posted. If the manuscript is accepted for publication in the journal, authors should update the information on the platform or repository where the preprint was posted, particularly including the DOI of the published article.
If the manuscript is the result of a research project or has previously been presented at a conference as an oral presentation (under the same or a similar title), detailed information about the project, conference, or similar context should be included in a note or acknowledgment.
Content of the Manuscript
The Editorial Board of Journal of the Faculty of Economics Brčko ensures that published articles contain sufficient information to allow the research described in the manuscripts to be reproduced. Facts presented should be described in detail and supported with references so that reviewers, and subsequently readers, can verify the claims made (e.g., a detailed description of the methods used should be provided). Authors are obliged to familiarize themselves with standards related to different types of scientific papers (Equator Network) and to use those appropriate for their research. Deliberately presenting incorrect statements constitutes a violation of ethical standards.
Authors bear full responsibility for the content of the manuscript and are required to obtain all necessary consents for the publication of the content. Authors are also fully responsible for the content of research data and supplementary materials and guarantee that in the process of collecting, processing, and publishing data they have complied with applicable regulations, ethical standards, third-party copyrights, and other rights.
Authors who wish to include illustrations, tables, or other materials that have already been published must obtain permission from the copyright holders. Materials for which such evidence is not provided will be considered the original work of the authors.
Authorship
Only those individuals who have made a significant contribution to the content of the manuscript may be listed as authors, and all individuals who have made a significant contribution must be listed as authors. If other individuals have contributed substantially to aspects of the research project or the preparation of the manuscript but are not authors, their contribution should be acknowledged in a note or in the acknowledgments section.
Authors should familiarize themselves with the authorship criteria defined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors - ICMJE), according to which authorship is based on the following criteria:
- substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or the acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of data,
- substantial contribution to drafting the work, or critical evaluation of its intellectual content,
- final approval of the version of the work to be published,
- agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work to ensure that questions regarding the accuracy and integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved, and
When stating author contributions, the CRediT taxonomy must be used.
During the peer review process, adding new authors or removing those already listed is allowed only in exceptional cases, provided that a detailed explanation is submitted to the editorial office and publisher explaining why this is necessary. Listing individuals whose contributions do not meet the authorship criteria (gift or honorary authorship, as well as so-called ghost authorship) will be considered a violation of ethical standards.Citing Sources
Authors are required to correctly cite sources that have significantly influenced the content of the research and manuscript. Information obtained through private conversations or correspondence with third parties, during the review of project proposals or manuscripts, and similar circumstances must not be used without the explicit written permission of the individuals providing the information.
When referring to research data or drawing conclusions based on it, authors must cite the data in the same manner as they cite publications. It is recommended that data be cited in accordance with the principles defined by FORCE11.Plagiarism
Plagiarism, that is, taking the ideas, words, or other forms of creative expression of others and presenting them as one's own, is considered a serious violation of academic and publishing ethics. Plagiarism may also involve copyright infringement, which is punishable by law.
Plagiarism includes the following:
literal or near-literal copying, or deliberate paraphrasing (to conceal plagiarism) of parts of texts from other authors without clearly indicating the source or without marking copied fragments (e.g., using quotation marks) and
copying images or tables from other works without properly citing the source and/or without the permission of the authors or copyright holders.
Authors are informed that every manuscript is checked for plagiarism. For this purpose, the editorial board of the the Journal of the Faculty of Economics Brčkouses iThenticate Similarity Check.
Manuscripts for which there is clear evidence of plagiarism will be automatically rejected, and the editorial board of the Journal of the Faculty of Economics Brčkowill act in accordance with the guidelines and recommendations of the international organization Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE.
Conflict of Interest
Authors are obliged to disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that could influence the results and interpretations presented in the manuscript. If no conflict of interest exists, the following statement should be included: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."
Conflicts of interest may be financial or non-financial. Some examples of conflicts of interest include:
- An organization that funds an individual, pays them a salary or other form of material compensation, or in which the individual is a shareholder, could gain (or lose) financially as a result of the publication of the results.
- Individuals, the organization that funds them, or their employer hold a patent related to the results of the work, or are in the process of applying for such a patent.
- Official affiliations and memberships in interest groups related to the published content.
- Political, religious, or ideological conflicts of interest.
Errors in Published Articles
If authors discover a significant error or minor mistake in their work after its publication, they are obliged to immediately inform the editor or publisher and cooperate with them to have the article retracted or corrected.
By submitting a manuscript to the Journal of the Faculty of Economics Brčko, authors commit to adhering to the aforementioned obligations.
Funding Information
If the work was produced as part of a project, authors are obliged to indicate the sources of funding in accordance with the agreement with the funder.
