Retraction of Published Articles

In the event of violations of the rights of the publisher, copyright holders, or authors, breaches of professional ethical codes—that is, in cases of submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously, false claims of authorship, plagiarism, data manipulation intended to deceive, failure to disclose the use of tools based on large language models and generative artificial intelligence, or an unintentional error reported by the author (e.g., errors resulting from mixed samples or the use of devices and equipment later found to be faulty)—the published article must be retracted. In some cases, a published article may also be retracted to correct errors identified after publication.

When retracting a published article, the reason for the retraction must be stated, as well as at whose request the article is being retracted. The standards for resolving situations that require retraction are defined by libraries and scholarly bodies, and the same practice has been adopted by the Journal of the Faculty of Economics Brčko: in the electronic version of the original article (the one being retracted), a link (HTML link) is established to the retraction notice. The retracted article is preserved in its original form, but with a watermark on the PDF document, on each page, indicating that the article has been retracted (RETRACTED).
