Peer Review

The submitted manuscripts are subject to a peer review process. The purpose of peer review is to assist the Editorial Board in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communication with the author it may also assist the author in improving the manuscript.

The peer review process is conducted in the form of double anonymous review, i.e. the reviewers do not know the identity of the author, nor do the authors know the identity of the reviewers, thus ensuring the impartiality of the review. The Editorial Board engages two to three independent external reviewers to evaluate each manuscript in order to obtain more impartial opinions. Under normal circumstances, the review process lasts 4 to 6 weeks from the date of submission of the manuscript for review.

The selection of reviewers is at the discretion of the Editor and the Editorial Board. Reviewers must have relevant knowledge in the field covered by the manuscript and must not be from the same institution as the author, nor must they be authors who have recently published together (as co-authors) with any of the authors of the manuscript being reviewed.

The key steps of the external/independent review procedure are listed in the section OBLIGATIONS OF THE EDITOR AND EDITORIAL BOARD.

Throughout the process, reviewers act independently of each other. Reviewers are not aware of the identities of other reviewers. If the reviewers' decisions are not the same (accept/reject), the Editor-in-Chief will seek the opinion of other reviewers.

During the review process, the Editor may request authors to provide additional information (including primary data), if it is necessary to make a judgment on the scientific contribution of the manuscript. The editor, members of the Editorial Board and reviewers must keep such information confidential and may not use it for personal gain.

The Editorial Board is obliged to ensure quality control of the review. In the event that authors have serious and well-founded objections to the review, the Editorial Board will check whether the review is objective and whether it meets academic standards. If there is any doubt about the objectivity or quality of the review, the Editor and the Editorial Board will seek the opinion of other reviewers.

Members of the Editorial Board are permitted to submit their own papers to the journal Proceedings of the Faculty of Economics of Brčko. In cases where an author is associated with the journal, they will be removed from all editorial tasks for that paper and another member of the team will be assigned responsibility for overseeing peer review.
